About KLKE Designs

Established in 2007, KLKE Designs was founded by Karen Lou Kennedy-Evans, the daughter of watchmaker and Laudick’s Jewelry Store owner, Robert Laudick. Family owned and operated since 1949, Laudick’s Jewelry, now run by Karen’s youngest brother Steve, remains in business.

While Karen was in high school and later as she pursued her nursing degree she worked with her bothers, mom and dad at the store. While two of Karen’s other brother’s (Tom and Larry) opened their own store Leo-Alfreds’s in Dublin, Ohio, Karen ventured even further and became the first Family Nurse Practitioner in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1974 where she was living with her husband and three children. For over 30 years, Karen raised her family and worked in Long Term care but never lost her knowledge or love for jewelry.

In 2002, life took Karen back to Van Wert Ohio, where she married an elementary school sweetheart and relocated to Tucson, Arizona. Still retaining her nursing degree she was able to pursue her lifelong passion of jewelry. Always creative, she found the necklaces available did not quite meet her fashion forward, classy and trend conscious needs, and it was then she found her true love of creating her own designs.

Although at first making necklaces for herself, she was immediately praised by strangers seeking her designs. Realizing the popularity of her creations, Karen created her own jewelry line and within a year her pieces were chosen to be in the Celebrity Baskets for Super Bowl XLII. This was just the beginning to the future of KLKE Designs.
